This is great!  Calling people by name is so important!  I learned fom a CPR video something that never really clicked until then-if there is trouble and a person calls out "Someone call 9-1-1!", it rarely ever gets dialed, because everyone assumes that "someone" is already doing it.

The same holds true for a lot of things.  I work as a manager on a grill line, and I often find my employees frustratedly hollering "Can someone get me...(a side of blue cheese, a salad, some eggs,etc.)".  They will then look at me and say, "They're not paying attention."

I will then demonstrate-"Watch this.  Hey KAREN," and wait the one or two seconds until she makes eye contact with me.  "Will you get me...(a side of blue cheese, etc.)"  See that: no hollering, no frustration, and it worked much faster.  Just say their name!

Life

It seems as though my life is unraveling at the seams these days. Things change so quickly, it's hard to keep up. This morning as I was drinking my coffee, I thought I heard something on the front porch. It's been really windy, so I told myself it was just the wind. Then, someone turned the doorknob on the door from the garage. My heart stopped and my fierce cat ran to the door hissing. I called my dad (who lives next door) and asked him if my husband's car was in the driveway. He said it was and he was on his way over. Then my husband knocked on the door. Thank heavens my dad changed the locks on the door. I asked him what he wanted and he said he needed to get some clothes. My dad talked to him for a while. My husband said he went to work and his boss told him he looked like hell, to go get cleaned up, and come back. I just don't know what to think. It's probably a good thing I saw my therapist this morning. I'm getting there. I know what I need to do. I don't know what is going to happen to my husband. I have place him in God's hands.

Sorry I have missed your posts the last few days, but I did get caught up. These are wise words to live by. I can see where I fall short.
