You are very correct on the factors that could influence! I have stayed about the same on my spending, but I spend very wisely as well! The rain is a determining factor and there's no doubt on that! Here's to sunny days ahead! sam

Very interesting, FSI and yes things are different..
People are using whatever extra monies they have much more carefully. I never think of rain as a good car wash, if so I'd be out there in it with soap and sponges..:)

You are right, my parents remembered the depression all of their lives.

Recession plays havoc with all businesses, FSI. Like you, I don't think people will be so quick to revert back to spending as they did, even if the recession ends.

Hi FSI!! Long time no speak! I know for myself, one thing that has deterred me from washing my car is the deterioration in the look of the vehicle in general, my paint is peeling so it doesn't look as good as it used to when it came out all clean and shiny. I think this is true for a lot of people, as people are keeping their cars longer with the decline of the economy.

Yes, I think you are right
Really I think the high gas prices may have a lot to do with some decreases also. When you have to spend so much money just to put gas in your car, you may be more reluctant to spend extra for a car wash

It is a luxury that a person can let go unless there is salt around
We now garage the car and put in an automatic garage door so that we can open and close with ease, this all keeps the car mush cleanrer longer.

The economy probably is the cause of some reluctance to use the car wash. My neighbors and myself were holding off until this 3 day rain is gone (WED.) Living in the Mtns. and neglecting car washes will force me to have my very first detailed car cleaning. I wonder what that will cost ..

Actually, I think the economy is going to dictate a lot of people's current spending habits for everything! However, people should be frugal anyway. Gas is never going to be much cheaper than it is now. Save those pennies!

they always talk about the economy, but in a lot of cases I dont see things slowing down. I am happy I have a white car and takes a long time before it looks dirty. But around here there is a shortage of full service car washes, but plenty of the other kind.

Well as long as folk take a pride in the old buggy and it does seem like an obsession to some, it makes for good business, I suspect the service counts to a great degree.
