Re: there are chess rooms somewhere on the Internet i know although it isn'

Thanks, Kabu. Although someone else mentioned the on-line chess matches as well, if I could find the time, I think I would much rather play someone in person. And I know what you mean about "losing it" with certain games. I've never played bridge ( but always wanted to learn ). I used to be pretty good at pinochle ( 3-handed or teams ) but like chess, I haven't played in eons! Same thing with Spades, Hearts and of course poker!

my ga me. Many moons ago I used to be a not bad bridge player, now I seem to have lost it with games. I really enjoyed this post you brought the chess game into real life in a most interesting way.

Re: Jimmy

I'm ready, Nautikos! However, if I can't find the time to play a live match, I doubt I could find the time for a computer one either . . . unless play can be periodically halted and postponed indefinitely! Interesting . . .

Re:

Well, FSI, I had a feeling that a number of current/former chess players would respond to the chess match being used as an analogy. I really do miss playing! So . . . how about you? Analogies aside, would you ever swap Queens?

Re:

Thanks, EX. Like I wrote, the chess strategies were simply an analogy to illustrate the importance of both being observant, and gaining information on an opponent ahead of time to strengthen your own position, which again can apply to almost any aspect of our lives. Be well yourself.

Thanks, Sam. See? I'm glad I'm not the only one never willing to part with Her Majesty!

Oh yes, it does help us get victories...I remember playing chess. A lot of fun it was. Like you time has been the reason why I have not played in awhile.

Jimmy

Knowing your opponent is always important! Like you, I also like chess, and again like you, I haven't played in a while. We should get Blogit to make a chess room available! There are such on the web, I used to play in one...

You are very observant, it appears. You strategize well; and you pay attention. Good traits for any aspect of life. Stay well.

I agree with you totally! I have played a bit of chess in my day, too and would never give up my queen! sam
