I think it is about the lack of numbers for them collectively! And, with them still on reservations, it doesn't help their cause! Another reason may be the Gov't doesn't want to face up to their horrendous treatment of them as well! sam

Re: that says something about the history of history.

Yes, history is full of lives.  Did you know I found out it is a fact that the Native Americans got it from the soldiers.  They are the ones who started scalping first.  That little fact blew me away and made me very angry.

Re:

You can bet it's classified, wants to take the blame/or the credit.  Who would own up to invading such a large piece of land (USA)

and the simple God-given rights stripped away from its inhabitants..

Re: They would probably be happy just with a day or two. And my lips are sealed

I loved your reply that you will keep it a confidential matter.  That was so cute.  Thanks

Re: They would probably be happy just with a day or two. And my lips are sealed

Oh Dear One, I wouldn't settle for a day or two.  THIS IS THEIR LAND and always will be.  Every white settler and all those who came after, just don't give a damn.  Can you imagine having your land confiscated, your children made to dress according to some one else's rule.  Perhaps I will write my congress man and our senators why they don't give the Native American a state or two or few to govern themselves.  Oh, I should have not have said "give the NA's a state or two.  I should ask why they don't give BACK their land by emptying  2 or 3 states.  I'll probably do that.  And I will ask for help, after I get my answers from the government.

Re: That is a good question

I hate the thought of ever hearing it's Colmbus Day.  He didn't discover America.  The Vikings did before him and congress knows this so why not give credit where it is due.  When I was brushing up on the Native American history, I found a great line.  One of them was telling a white man, or another Native, "they (whites) built houses, put crosses on top of them and told us that is where God lives.  He went on to say, we know what God is, he is the wind, the seasons, the night and day skies, the mountain top where beginners go in silence to have their first vision.  Native Americans had their land stolen and no one cares anymore.

Re: Amanda6

What I know of the reservation either one becomes an alcoholic or leaves.  I have been waiting to see an influential Native American who got off the reservation and got involved in politics, judicial system, one who gave the Native Americans a voice.  They have no voice, no representative.  Many have filtered into all kinds of businesses, but I don't hear them speaking for the people.

Perhaps a Native American will be the one person who will make that happen

That is a good question

Guess nobody wants to admit that Columbus found America by getting lost.

Good question! I don't think the answer is  to be found in ill will or an attempt at 'oppressing' them; I think it has more to do with indifference, particularly since their numbers are insignificant as well...

Re:

Thanks Mariss.  I hope don't become a secret document for writing this. Be sure to comeback tomorrow cause I will be telling something I did that concerns Native Americas. You won't be able to stop laughing.

I think it is supposed to be classified since native Americans are to be ignored and oppressed for always for some unknown reason, maybe because they were here first. I think they should have something and be incorporated into the mainstream by now more than they are.
