Having no TV is a blessing all in itself! No, I won't get rid of mine - there's the History Channel, the Discovery Channel and of course the Food Channel, and I sometimes even watch some of the news, but I don't think I would greatly miss it if it weren't there...

This will be another quietly loving day here, next week for our Christmas
no big family day...just us and Mr. Graysome who of course has his sock full of kitty toys.

We're always overwhelmed by images and voices
and pressures: phones, computers, radio, TV, Ipads, Ipods, texting, traffic, etc. I feel my shoulders go tense just thinking about all of it. What a blessing silence can be.

I love the quiet Christmas without all the hustle-bustle and nerve-wracking uncertainties of what to buy for people. More and more, I am enclined to just give something intangible like smiles and hugs and the warmth of togetherness at home and good smells as food cooks.
