Re: They are uplifting lyrics
Perhaps, but I believe it's probably all speculative. I really didn't look at those lyrics as either uplifting or gloomy, but rather as apropos when viewing certain elements of our society today, as well as certain trends and particular topics. Believe it or not, what actually surprised me a bit since I posted this blog was that no one asked what the name of the song was, or who the artist(s) were. I had a valid reason for not initially mentioning either. I'll wait. Thanks for responding.

They are uplifting lyrics
and keep in mind the news media tends to portray things as worse than they really are

Re: I have many of the same fears that dogged me during the worst days
Believe it or not, I "grew up" during the Cold War, and do remember a lot of the anxieties that were prevalent during that time period. I remember being extremely nervous waiting to see if my oldest brother would be drafted into the Vietnam conflict ( thankfully he wasn't ). I remember the images of LBJ and Nixon on the news telling us one thing and then doing another. And I remember the reports of people building bomb shelters in their basements and backyards. No generation has been immune to these types of realities and angst, they just differ from decade to decade. But, as I said, the song remains the same!

Re:
Yes, regardless of your nationality, your background, or any ideology that differs from anyone else's, we're all still human beings, and we all have the same fears and anxieties. They may come in different forms, at different times, under different circumstances, but I have yet to meet someone . . . anyone . . . who is completely stress-free. It would be nice to go about your daily life with a huge smile on your face, a wonderful song in your heart, a lilt in your step, and not a trace of an ulcer anywhere on your body. But the unfortunate reality is, life is just set up that way. And I hate to bring this up but, I personally feel that most of the "modern technology" that has been introduced to make things "easier" for a lot of people has actually done just the opposite. It's okay, though. Like I said, the song remains the same!

I remember when Obama was elected, how happy and relieved I was, even though I'm not an American citizen. But I have to admit, what you said about, whoever wins the next election, about it probably not even mattering, this I understand. Obama was elected, and, to my knowledge, things haven't gotten better for the American public as a whole. There's supposed to be up to 50 million people who still don't have healthcare - I believe it to be a human right, especially if you are actually contributing to society in one form or another. I believe that if someone is giving to the community, whether its through volunteer work, paying taxes, serving in the army etc, that the state has a moral obligation to ensure that that individual is looked after when they need to be. I hope that whoever is your next president will really try to re-examine the way things are. I thought that was a really thoughtful and honest blog you wrote, expressing your feelings in that way. I do sometimes try to think of other people, of other people's problems whenever I feel a bit down, for whatever reason. It makes me feel better, it really does make feel better when I recognise that all of us have worries, stressful times, all of us do, and it helps me to do that, there's a certain motivation in thinking in that way. I'm looking forward to your next blog.
