Is it because...
These a lot of conflicting interest in  the Eurocentric view of the world.  Even the fact(?) of his revelation of the isles and continents across the seas is under dispute but, let's be positive, were it not for the intrepid entrepreneur the most inspiring societies of the modern world would not have been founded.  My contribution is from the hub, as ever.
