Well Pat we used to make bows and arrows but we were more for catapults, but I don't suppose the Indians had rubber available. Wonderful hobby though.

AH - love that quote - thanks TAPS! Pat_B - your son is to be admired for his interest and involvement in his ancestors and their way of life. I practiced archery; it is difficult, and when you can find a good bow and arrows, it makes ALL the difference. It's a delicate craft and not many people have the knack. Kudos to him!

It does come from Shakespeare, but as you say, it may just be in reference to his special interests:
