I know what you are saying, I had that happen to me and I wished I would have made one heck of a fuss, but I was so stunned I froze! It is aggravating! sam

Yes here across the pond at Wal-Mart they have folks posted at all the exits to randomly make sure all purchases were paid for properly.

C.C..your incident reminds me of what happens here at Wal-Mart

if your purchases (of the metallic nature) aren't rung through properly by the cashiers...a modestly loud alarm goes off as the customer passes through the doors...I don't know why, but these items somtimes wouldn't "clear", although they'd be right on the sales slip and be paid for...as a Greeter at the time (I worked as one for a few months in between full time jobs) I had a "gizmo" I could use to clear the customer's purchase so they wouldn't have to go through the cashier again...

I got a few looks, but usually a "Thank you" from the customer who just wanted to be on his or her way....
