We have all the same stores in this area, but our population is much smaller so the stores are not usually packed.

They do much research before opening in any area. So weird that we hear so much about a failing economy, but people are still spending!! Interesting post, FSI!

FSI, Wiley's right on...
the same type of stores will cluster together in competition with each other..if a customer goes into, say Walmart looking for an item and they don't have it, then they'll go to Staples or wherever in that little cluster....same thing goes for fast food places....

"Competition is the spice of life" and closeness won't hurt those businesses it will help them, in my humble opinion my friend........

Well, there are five churches within sight or sound of my front porch.  That's kind of the same thing.  I've only been inside one of them, the one where I vote.  The church of my choice for worship is not within walking distance.  LOL

Yes I am interested to know...perhaps you could make a list of them

and their proximity to each other and in a few years see what has happened.

Wall mart was the biggest disappointment to me...never go near the place.
