Gypsy - You know years ago I began opening up online as well while working on a Poet-Writer's judging site - The Amazing Instant Novelist site and so, I understand about being private and then finding yourself 'opening' up to 'strangers' so to speak.  I also was a moderater for a 'game' site.(POGO)  That was an experience, I'll never forget.  I've written on and off on this site here for about 3 years and I can attest that this site in particular, seems as private as you want it to be, I guess that's the best way to put it.  I feel better (personally) about opening up because one: it's a paid for site and two: everyone that I've met here truly seems so genuine and welcoming and kind ...now, that's my belief and opinion thus far.  At any rate, welcome.  Elyse

Gypsy Butterfly
Good on ya for being able to share with your writing. I have done a lot of that over my years in Blogit. I am a recovering 75 year old alcoholic, sober coming up on 44 years now. Two of my older siblings sobered up after I did so life has it's joys.

I find that I have opened up more in the online world myself.

It's good to share with kind and understanding friends...
but in light of the tendency of gossips to distort and laugh at others' distress, I tend to focus sharing my sadder-wiser experiences with those who can benefit from my mistakes.

Thanks for your very kind comment
on my previous post. I too am essentially private, I suppose with that English reserve - however, being able to read and write online is quite liberating I think in so many ways.
