It's interesting to see the support Ayn Rand has gotten in spite of the beliefs...I hope for a society where greed is no more.

Re: So much wrong with the big picture, isn't there, Dear Raye?

Wisely and well said, Dear Sunny!  I think a sea change in attitudes about military spending, out sourcing of decent jobs and a balancing of tax burdens must happen and may be beginning to, knock on wood - something is very uneven when a wealthy CEO's secretary pays more in income taxes than he does!

"Warren Buffett, the third-richest man in the world, has criticised the US tax system for allowing him to pay a lower rate than his secretary and his cleaner.

Speaking at a $4,600-a-seat fundraiser, Mr Buffett, who is worth an estimated $52 billion (£26 billion), said: “The 400 of us [here] pay a lower part of our income in taxes than our receptionists do, or our cleaning ladies, for that matter. If you’re in the luckiest 1 per cent of humanity, you owe it to the rest of humanity to think about the other 99 per cent.”

Mr Buffett said that he was taxed at 17.7 per cent on the $46 million he made last year, without trying to avoid paying higher taxes, while his secretary, who earned $60,000, was taxed at 30 per cent."

So much wrong with the big picture, isn't there, Dear Raye?
Humanity has failed, I feel.  Greed and Hatred has corrupted so many minds.  To find peace, everyone has to have the same right to live...and like you said, have at least the very basic needs of food, shelter, healthcare..

If that were possible, I believe that at least a great part of humanity could make good and wise decisions, without worrying about losing their home or feeding their family or having healthcare available to them.

There's got to be a better way, I feel... but I don't know what.

I think a fundamental belief is God is conducive to an all around good person! When the Lord is left out we get the influence of folks like Rand and become too focused on their ideals that always seem to fall short! This was an enlightening post! sam
