You were lucky to have a positive experience at that time. In contrast, an increasing number of schools do not provide a positive experience.

Very interesting.
For as long as I can remember, every single member of my family has gone to public schools, except for several who were home-schooled and a couple of them who graduated from a private Christian school that was not catholic, but non-denominational instead. It was very, very different from the public schools and one in our extended family who changed to that school after his 9th grade year was expelled from it because he could not get used to the difference.
