I'm sorry about the drunk asshole with the gun who terrified your dogs. For the last few days we've had gunfire across on the island. Ell hopes it's hunters even if it is out of season, but I don't think so. On the 30th I saw the muzzle flashes as well as hearing the gunfire and the flashes were just across the road at the river bank - and there aint no animals worth shooting there - unless you count smugglers, that is.
News Flash. I just got concerned at a shape floating downriver. It looked so much like a capsized boat. Ell dived for the binocs and found out it was an abandoned Christmas Tree. The detritus season has begun.

You have no idea how stiff and painful I am today. For some odd reason I can hardly move my right leg and as for my neck - it is bluidy sore. Yep, sam, I should have explained myself a few minutes earlier.

I remember the mid January rise in Nebraska. College students in shorts and tee-shirts playing Frisbee in the snow because it was over 20 deg F.
We spent New Year's hugging our trembling dogs while some fool emptied a couple large caliber pistol magazines, hopefully into the sky.
