Really tough choice
but when I think of the computer room at university all those years ago and the PCs in our house today I suppose the microchip mst come close, given that it appears to be in every other bit of hardware as well!

I am with you; there are so many! I do lean toward the telephone because I think it initially made a big world smaller!
