I hope and pray the right thing happens.  I would let the wealthy have their breaks if they need them to expand their businesses and employees benefit too: I am not sure of how it works; I do not want a government that preys on the wealthy like old England in it's dark days.

This is an income tax, not a tax on wealth,

so its continuance in any form or incidence results in the further consolidation of wealth by the wealthy and the further impoverishment of the poor.  Increasing a tax on high income earners, as is proposed, is only nibbling at the corners.  It gets more taxes from those of the wealthy who show large incomes and does nothing for the working and entrepreneurial poor.  Their way is still barred and more forcefully barred from escaping poverty with a very good year.

If the intention is to reduce the consolidation of wealth through a change in income taxation, replacing the Bush cuts with the abolition of the Social Security tax would be a better policy.  The SS tax is the most regressive income tax on the books.  Its abolition would leave more wealth in the hands of the poor, along with all workers, and finally give them a fair deal in this arena of income taxation.  Overall, it is not a fair deal, but fairer than the current and proposed policies.

I hope that the right decision is made. I do not know enough to say what is that right decision.

It would be wonderful if we just paid our fair share and called it a day! Shelly

I find that I just 'wait' and see what all is implemented when I go to pay my 'taxes' ~ the rules and guidelines and all that congress and politicians state - I take with a grain of salt and pepper as well.   ~ Elyse
