An awesome song choice TimmyTales. Bob Seger will always be in a league all his own.

I went to school with Bob Seeger, a friendly, really good guy!
I met Bob in Ann Arbor, mid-year of 8th grade, at Slauson Junior High School, back in '58. Later we both attended Ann Arbor High School, graduating in '63. Bob and I saw each other after school when he was working at a women's clothing store, and I was working filling candy vending machines, in their lunch room.
Bob was getting frustrated at his inability to get airplay, beyond a few plays, in Chicago radio stations, (WLS) and then no more interest at all. Just before his first hit put him on the charts, he confided to me that he was thinking about giving up on his dream of becoming a recording and performing professional musician. I wish that I could remember if I encouraged him to keep plugging away at it, or not. We all would have missed out on a lot of great music, if Bob had given up, way back in the mid-sixties.
Our 50 year High School reunion, is going to occur in 2013, and I really hope that he will attend that one. He hasn't been to any of them, up to now, I'm pretty sure, but I can imagine that he would be mobbed by a whole crowd of wanabe "buddies," who never really knew him, back then. That wouldn't be any fun.

He shows the pitfalls of "the road" quite well in this song. Definitely a lot of great themes on celebrity here.
