The doors are wide open for women sports writers and announcers. There are so few and every network and newspaper or magazine wants women for balance. Men are a dime a dozen unless they're ex-jocks because almost every guy in the country would love to be a sports reporter and would do it for practically nothing. Encourage your Baby Bunny as much as you can without pushing too hard. You never know.
