My first jumping lesson!
I had my first jumping lesson today, and it was so much fun! I did way better than I thought I would. It was a little scary a few times, but I didn't a.) fall off or b.) fall all over the horse. Can't decide if this is a good thing
Mallomar usually fusses a little when I pick out his back feet. He likes to pull his foot forward a few times before settling down. I've realized that he's not really trying to pull it away, so I move my hand along with him for his two pulls and then he is fine. Today he didn't pull either foot even... Sign in to see full entry.

Horse Hair Mystery
Today I vaccumed the saddle pads before washing them. I figured this would result in less hair in the washing machine. Imagine my surprise when I found clumps of hair on the saddle pads after washing! I guess it was effective in one way: the hair was clumped, and not spread all over the place. I... It was actually cool this morning!
When I started riding at 6am it was actually cool! Not as in, "Hey! It's not boiling hot!" but actually cool! It was a lot of fun to ride this morning. I rode for an hour straight, mostly working on my posting trot and doing a lot of figure-eights. Mallomar is now wearing a shocking neon pink halter... Sign in to see full entry.

I got to see Mallomar jump!
Today after I was done riding a woman asked me if she could use Mallomar for her jumping class. The trainer who owns the barn likes him to keep in jumping shape, and this woman needs to borrow a horse for class. I decided it would be fun to see someone else ride him and jump. Today was backwards from last time
Poor Mallomar! He must have been bored to tears today. All we did was trot, trot, trot around and around and around and around and.... Some things are snapping into place
I have moments when my trot actually feels coordinated. And when I rode yesterday, I really felt like I was balanced and controlled at the canter. Boy, has this blog missed a lot!
