Re:

m The developer’s not budging. The name of the project scares me. In any event wrong name. The Moslems took over Cordova, Spain from Christians. Let me say firstly that American culture developed from the Puritans. Spain sold it but they were Catholic. However freedom of religion continues the purpose of the Puritans to come here. Thirdly helping the families of the victims would be good public relations for the developer to share the beliefs of Islam. BC-A, Bill’s RJLst

This will not be worked out. Too many people think all the people in the world should and will sometime get along. No way. We have caved in and soon we will be the owned.

Re: PROPOSED MOSQUE
Hi, sam.  We are being manipulated big time, no doubt about it.  Why are we being pushed into the "fast" lane so suddenly.  I'm waiting for the idiocy to reach the absurd, as in Obama calling a press conference to announce that he had "resolved the constipation crisis" and the world was safe once again.  joab   btw, the other blog I couldn't get to yet.  Not enough time in the day.  Chores . . . I'm not exempted from.

I think this is a bit sketchy for the real intent, too! Just makes me uncomfortable! In the back door so to speak, it seems our freedoms will end up being held or holding us hostage, and we seem to allow it! sam

It might be gracious if they were willing to move some blocks away since the families and emergency personnel are bothered by the location even though they should be able to practice freedom of religion.

I keep praying that the area will become a peace park where all people can
meet.

Re: joab
Of course.  One can always do the "proper" thing, but doing what is correct is sometimes very difficult.  Building the center/mosque a few blocks away has never been a problem with me. First let's see what transpires.  There is the world's view; and then there's reality, which sometimes comes as a shock to the unwary or "true" believer as you well know.  For the backers of the mosque, to agree to relocate would be both proper and correct.  Yet already we hear certain powerful imams demanding that the present site is where the mosque must be built. The site has strong political meaning and value to the philosophical and expansionist arm of Islam. If not, why not accept the offer to move a couple of more blocks?  joab

It will never happen, nor should it. As explained by Lionreign.  The proper thing to do, knowing how so many people feel is to build the Mosque somewhere else.

Re: I find it odd
Americans are odd people perhaps by recognizing how certain catastrophic events, eg, the twin towers, can evoke what is being described as a "mind" set against all Muslims.  Perhaps it was the live televised images of many M.E. people dancing in their streets with glee, as victims in N.Y. hurled themselves to their deaths by trying to escape the inferno, which was carried out by extremist-Muslims and financed by Muslim funds...neutral dollars I suppose.

I second Lionreign's comment..
couldn't have said it better and I've been trying for awhile. This mindset is odd indeed.

I find it odd
That so many people expect all Muslims to accept responsibility for a few extremists, surely that is even more unfair than expecting all Americans to take responsibility for Bush, or all English people to apologise for Blair.
