Deep stuff, Pat-B. One can identify with the characters' feeling of isolation. It would be interesting to continue reading - to see if they will ever discover that each has to make his own happiness - as the French say "être bien dans sa peau",
be confident, or well, inside our own skin. Depending on others for our serenity is a mistake.
