I am not a regular, follower of baseball, but your article makes a lot of sense.

It was all split-second stuff
So I don't think anybody really knew on the field.  Which makes the reaction of Galarraga and his teammates all the more sportsmanlike.  There are many teams which would have thrown a cow, with the manager and some players booted, just to convince others that they knew it was an out, to not run the risk of trying to get the last out again.  There are many more who would have been put off their game, committed a slew of errors and end up losing, whining that the one call cost them the game.  The Tigers, however, appeared to be all class.  They got the last out on the very next batter.  They shook the Indians hands.  They comforted the umpire.  In short, they maintained the honor of the game.
