I looked peonies and camellias both up and they look a lot a like. I think mine was a peony.

I have that same flower in my front yard. I thought it was a peony, but it looked just like yours. It didn't bloom last year, this year 2 flowers!

It is a peony I think Kabu but it looks like ones that I have and strimmed down in error, I just can't think of the name of them, but they are quite expensive to buy and a lovely flower I have a white one if it blooms I will show you it and you can decide. Don't change your lovely nature, flower.

but life itself, if it's boring, Woo! Hoo! it's a blessing to have things dull normal. When it gets dangerous and threatening, or something hits the fan, we long for boring.

Beautiful. I believe you have a Peony there. The habits and foliage is not that of Camellia. The color is awesome, a truly beautiful blossom.
