Kabu, I enjoy stories from other cultures and lands.  It brings to us a flavor of life that most Americans miss out on.  I'm reminded of the time Kruschev spoke at the UN.  I was in the 5th grade.  We gathered together in front of the tv, two classes together.  Our teacher told us it was history in the making.  When Kruschev began speaking, the UN interpreter broke in and the sound of the Russian's voice was gone.  I expressed disappointment and the teacher kidded me, "Mike, do you understand Russian?"  Of course I was listening for the music of his language.  Not many others understood that.  Have a great day, I hope it's sunny up there.

You know, I'm a huge fan of
Robert Service -- this reads like one of his. How wonderful!

Although the poem was long, it kept me engaged. There's a whole story and
many stories wrapped in it.

Sweet Kabu
I had to read this in segments. It is so awesome, so warm yet so painful. I thought the writing was wonderful, the story awesome. Thank you so for sharing this with us.

This reminds me of Robt. Service's "The Cremation of Sam Maghee."
Only the great poets are capable of stirring such feelings, and reaching deep into the heart, as these two poets did. Compare talent like that, to most poetry, and you will appreciate them even more. Thank you for bringing this work and the man who composed it, to our attention, dear Kabu.

Beautiful...my heart just snapped in half, Grandmummy.  Please thank your friend for allowing you to share this with us.  I hope we remember all soldiers everywhere who sacrificed themselves.
