I dont think she took advantage of you
I think it was just your lack of expeirence and ability to screen your worker more closly to see if she is capable on producing the work you needed. I found that it is hard to find good employees, and your expeirence is only a school that should guide you to learn how to hire. Very difficult process. The fact that you Could hire someone already tells me that you are a success, and so i say Go for it, go kick ass.

seems maybe the other way around
sort of a mutual thing -- you needed a worker, she needed the $.  but she seemed to want the $ more than she wanted to work as you wanted.

I've seen that a lot.

you probably did her a favor -- next job she might try harder for the employer.

Somebody else

It is easy to do nice things if one has the money. If it were me I would explain to the person involved that she could have a trial run and then you could reveal what she would earn.

Her expectations would not be raised and you would have no feeling of taking advantage.

Which incidentally you haven't.

You found out why they were short of cash

Straightforward - simply no - it was a give give situation for a while and you gave longer than some would - actually.  She may learn from this to 'get with the program' a bit more.  It's a learning process ~ Elyse

Straightforward - I don't think it is taking advantage. It was a mutually needy situation. Thank you for your visit and comment.

Nah. It was an agreement...I have always hated these words, but sometimes it rings true that 'it's not personal'...it's just business.'

one needs work and one needs assistance, sounds like regular life to me.
I hate it when I hire deadbeats. They exhaust you by increasing your despair and anxiety.

U R fine.

A dollar's pay for a dollar's work...
and a dollar's work for a dollar's pay...the employer and the employee are the primary judges...and you both exercized your best judgment..end of story..please move on, best wishes,

I don't think you took advantage of her. You needed her services, and she needed the job. Sounds like what anyone who hires is looking to do and anyone that applies for a job is looking to do.

Maybe it's good she left, saved you from having to eventually fire her slow
ass.

I don't think you bear any guilt; she was slow, you told her she needed to improve and she left! I think she was using you for some quick moolah! And, it felt like she was prepared to milk it for as long as you would tolerate it! sam
