Re: Re: Actually, according to the Constitution
For the curious, in Article I:

Section 10 - Powers prohibited of States

No State shall enter into any Treaty, Alliance, or Confederation; grant Letters of Marque and Reprisal; coin Money; emit Bills of Credit; make any Thing but gold and silver Coin a Tender in Payment of Debts; pass any Bill of Attainder, ex post facto Law, or Law impairing the Obligation of Contracts, or grant any Title of Nobility.

Re: Toll, indeed.
But I guess the desperation isn't so quiet anymore.  Maybe we should form a support group.  How about a bumper sticker - "I survived the Garden State!"

Re: 2902 - a terrible event
I;ve never had experiences like these at toll booths, but if I did, I'd brood on them for a long time.  Things like that get to me.

Actually, according to the Constitution
State tolls should be paid in pre-1965 dimes, pre-1965 quarters or pre-1970 half dollars, or the even rarer gold coins.

Just pay the toll

Toll, indeed.
Talk about your quiet desperation, the temptation to go screaming out into traffic.

Re: toll booth people
Isn't it awful?!  I knew there were "incidents". but the article still surprised me. As for Jersey itself, I've always seen driving there as a kind of big board game that I often lose by getting puzzled, lost, or irritated.  It's probably me.

Re: taking the train
I did, too, twice.  The first time from Penn Station (not the Newark one) and the second through Secaucus Junction.  I went back to the car. I also tried Bolt Bus - now that was not bad!  I go to Philly from time to time to see me son and his family.

I think it very sad that the abuse is given to toll booth people --- I mean really that's just too wild - I guess mean people have to be mean to anyone ~ This is a great poem - Elyse

Re: the things that happen
Yeah, I'm really appalled - that article shocked me!  I don't envy tolltakers their jobs under the best of conditions, but hey! get a grip!

Re: Hit it on the head
Thank you for the affirmation! but I was surprised by the article - I've never had such problems in Jersey!

You hit it on the head :-)  I am presently visiting in Englewood and I tell you I have also noticed the rudeness of not only the toll operators but also the police here in New Jersey... They are arrogant and rude... I thought it was just me missing the southern yawl but I guess  it wasn't  loll  Good work!  xoxoxo
