Great writing sets me off on a train of thought.
It makes me think "I wish I'd said that." It teaches me something I didn't know, or shows me a new way of looking at something that's been under my nose all along and never noticed. Great writing makes me feel lucky, or understood finally. Great writing makes me laugh, or cry. Great writing takes me out of my mundane place and takes me on an adventure.

Great writing is about satisfying the reader! But, who really knows, some of the best stuff written has a difficult time finding its way into print and then other subject come out of nowhere and make it big! A catch 22 in its own right! sam

You just keep on with your own style love.....remember that
Van Gogh never sold a painting in his life.....perhaps the micey tales willbeyour break through...doesn't matter....write them anyway.

As they say. "I'm no expert, but I can recognize greatness, when I see it."
Breathless,
Dylan has written GREAT tag lines, catch phrases, expressed deeply felt, profound ideas, and actually can sing without his signature slurring, mumbling, and dischordant renditions, when he wants to. I believe he is also a talented photographer. The guy would probably be a good one to sit around, tipping a few brews and shooting the BS with, on a camping trip, too. Dylan, Arlo Guthrie, and Willie Nelson. Wouldn't that be a wonderful group of companions, to spend a camping/fishing vacation with? The stories and jokes told around the campfire, would be world-class entertainment to eavesdrop upon, and be allowed to contribute a few anecdotes yourself!

Great Writing
I think all of those aspects or some sort of combination can be great writing. I also feel great writing makes the reader want more...When it comes to story-telling creating realstic characters readers feel like they know is another aspect as well.
