Ah Corncrake --- while I was away you have been writing --- so have patience with me while I catch up, please.  ~
I love that phrase, "it's the bloom a woman gets when she's trying for a baby" ~ that's poetic...I tell you I get inspiration from your writing.  and I also liked this phrase: "Only the bridegroom like a scratchy 78 record spins steadily to the centre and spins on" ~ really like your style, Corncrake.
and the action throughout this is great.  I do wonder about all the stress and a 'heart seize' ~ eeeh...I'm onto the next chapter.  It's like I'm reading a book for the night.  Elyse

Re: Sam

They would not be dancing around if you had not suggested it. Am I pleased, I am lazy.

It is wet outside, you throw me life lines, I am sure this is not the way to write a a short story. No plot, no character list, but so much more freedom than writing poetry.

Re: I think Arthur is extremely unwell, I believe that Granny's cocncoction

Help, help, Penny may feel broody, but nothing immoral must happen in Dogrose.

Arthur couldn't go through his forth coming  nuptials with that weight hanging around his shoulders, where did this baby suddenly come from. Arthur says this cannot happen, well he thought it couldn't because---oh, maybe it's an old a folk's tale. Something furry might be the answer.

I think Arthur is extremely unwell, I believe that Granny's cocncoction

will make him feel better for awhile but that he is going to endup in the ER. with a heart attack. Someone has put a curse on him or he just can't take the stressany longer. Truth is always the best way.  Oh and Penny is with child (don't you just love that old fashioned saying....with child.....) and of course we know it is Arthur's.

The worm has some merit but bloody boring pet....BOO could be boring when she had just eaten....a worm ,,,,I can't see me winding a worm around a finger and cooing to it.

The interaction between the characters is so entertaining! They truly have taken on a life of their own! So well done! sam
