You handled it just fine! I know what you are saying on the little tax, but they must be collected no matter the amount. It feels weird to me, though! I used to have to pay an irrigation tax because I was in the district but never had access to the water. Go figure, it was $13 per year. sam

I was glad to see you were kind to her. Maybe it will help her be kind to others.

Wow, that's interesting that you wound up having somewhat of a respect for her, even wishing her a Happy New Year. Female-dog or no, the fact that she was professional sits well in my book. I admire people who can keep it business-like.

FSI ~  you're too cool.  I am glad though that you kept the perspective of you being the storyteller - I think sometimes that keeps us more observant of situations rather than jumping in and taking full control ~  Hope you and your family enjoy a Happy New Year and my you all find blessings coming and going this new year. I think one of the things people that handle customers should keep those kind of comments to themself.  I would never think to say something like that to a customer about another person.  I am glad Kathy was respectful to you.

FSI
I find having the checks made out to a persons name not right, they should be made payable to the townsip or city hall or whatever. Is Cathy building her own pension fund with town funds? Good post my friend...

I agree with you about small towns....this will do the rounds and it will
grow. You were so wise young friend to keep quiet. A smile....that's nothing. You showed great restraint. Kudos to you because this witch sounds very nasty.
