Nowadays you do not have to send things off to a publisher, you can publish them yourself. Quite a few people on Blogit seem to be doing that. In this way you have something to market, then perhaps next time a 'real' publisher will market what you've written.
But I do get your point about having to live up to other people's and your own high expectations; it's hard.
I like the way you write; keep going!
