Keep your finger off of the INSERT button...I leared the hard way, too!

I still have plenty to learn with Microsoft word too. Sorry, I have no ideas on this one.

I have been using MS Word for writing my novel as well, and although I never encountered that problem, I gotta tell you, when I switched from Windows to Mac, the Mac version of MS Word is even more awesome!

I am trying to get a handle on Microsoft Word as well!  I am lost so I hope that Troosha's advice works for you! sam

Former

You have probably inadvertently hit the “insert” button on your keyboard.  Hit it again and then you can insert text versus it deleting or replacing previous text.  This happened to me a while back and it was driving me nuts.
