Sam444,
So do I! But he is caught in that same vortex that lures all good men/women away from their true calling.

It is not an easy decision! I hope he can avoid sending more troops, but he may not have a choice! sam

Re: Ash Pradhan,
Glenn . . . I completelly agree with you, up to a poit.  By his own words, this has now become "Obama's War".  Heavy, heavy hangs the head that wears the crown.  joab

Joab3,
We do not need anyone to lead us into conflict. We need sober leadership to guide us away from the lure of vengeance. This man has a taken on the mandate of his supporters and detractors, I wish him well.

Ash Pradhan,
I see your point. However, let us not forget George Bush began this thing with his eyes on the destruction of Iraq. Escalation would make this Obama's war. And it is my impression that is their sole objective.

Did Not Just Arrive at this Point in History?
Please, Glen, let's not sanctify Obama or endow him with the ability to walk on water.  His precaution is his inability to reach the hard decision.  I do not blame him, but he does lack the ability to lead a nation in time of bitter conflict.  And this is not a side show attraction -- a ring toss -- where one wins a cupie doll; but an entire section of the world.  He can deliberate all he wishes, but there will come a loud "knocking" at our doors over and over, until we are forced to act in order to preserve our own existence.   joab

Let us not prejudge...
The President is considering various options in a comprehensive strategy for the region, escalation being only one of them, it is not a foregone conclusion. Personally, I believe this administration will develop a more well-thought out, intelligent, and pragmatic strategy for the region than any of the previous ones. It'll probably involve US, UK, India, Afghanistan & Pakistan, and much more than just a no-brainer escalation. So please be patient and watch/study the global developments, not just the US. You're giving too much credit to the "they" that we know continue to pursue their evil ways on both sides. Peace!
