Hi .. I had a Rhodesian Ridgeback Dog who was my favorite of all the animals we had over the years. He has been gone now but if memory serves me .. I would say that he tracked to the right. Hope that is of some help to you.

On reflection......I have a lot of experience walking Mama's two Westies....they both definitely track right....I always assumed it was to keep their rears closer to the curb....that's where they always do their business, right next to it...I always assumed they were trying to get up as close to the grass as I would let them....of being considerate of me, having to scoop it after them....much easier to flip up onto the grass....now, you have me wonderin'.....hmmmmm....could also explain human right trackers....especially men....you know, trying to get as close to a tree as possible....to skulk, or....something.....

I have no dog now (only Pitiful the cat) but, I'll never forget walking Chipper. She was half golden retriever and half collie and her back end was very wide because I fed her too much and walked her too little. I wasn't very knowlegable about dogs at that time. I can see her tracking still, even without closing my eyes. At the first of our walks in the park she would eagerly be pulling me along--tracking to the right. By the time it was nearing the end of our walks she would be hanging back, panting, and I would be dragging her along while she watched my tracking.

I do not have a dog nor am I around them at this juncture! But I will be very interested in the results! Shelly

It has never occurred to me to watch a dog's behind. Now you have given me a new goal in life: have my noteblock and pen ready, trainers on my feet (in case the dogs are faster), glasses on my nose and am off to dog-watching. Let's give good old bird watchers a run for their money!!

I’m afraid I’m not a dog owner so cannot contribute to your survey. If the movement of a cat counts, however, I would have to say it’s A(dr) – B(dl) – A(du) - B(dd) U=Upward , D=Downward

My findings are the same to elinjo. For example, I see neighbors who will walk their dog up and down the same side of the road. Dogs always seem intrigued by the bushes close to the sidewalk my next door neighbors have.

The rare dog Willy the Mutt that bit me is left. In my area a couple neighbors apparently trained their dogs as watch dogs. One controls his. The owner of the lefty allows them to patrol loose as a couple on the sidewalks. BCA, BillJRoost

You are SUCH a guy....playing with your favorite toy, your brain! I would, too, if I had one like yours............but, alas, I've no dog around to be able to contribute any data. Move onto your kitty next and let's explore something about them so I can play....

The dogs I know tend to be pragmatic; i.e they move in whatever direction that takes their fancy.

I am so relieved to finally know what you are researching... and my answer... after several days of watching my dog is ( I feel like there should be a drumroll loll) to the right... he seems to favor the right heavily... I would say 5 to 1 if not even more often... Hmmm I can't wait to see what you plan to do with the data you accumulate :-) xoxo

I personally would like to know the breed of the dogs mentioned (if known).
Here I need to apologize and make a correction to the recipe for the salad. I'm so sorry but I left off a very important ingredient in that recipe that you copied. I have added it now, but I was afraid you might miss it. In the dressing part, you must add
1/4 cup of rice wine vinegar. It would be too oily without it.
