I completely agree.. This was even the case when Hilary clinton was in the running.....people are so caught up in trying to make the history books with flare, they forget that we will have to live with the people we elect and their policies. I for one was a fan of HC, but not because she had the possibility to become first woman pres, but preciesly because she wasnt. She was more focased on her policies than her weight in history. I am also a fan of obama...and proud that we have elected our first black prest. That is a huge step in our short history-- and compared to the rest of the worlds our history is short. However, i choose him because his policies reperesented some of the changes i wanted, not because he skin repersented a change in our history books. I also, when trying to discuss why ppl voted for him, have come in contact with the often "...ummmm... hes BLACK (DUH!!!!!! being implied).of course" The biggest prob i see in drawing lines of color and signing our alliagence with such is people like me.I am 1/2 spanish 1/2 russian.....i have no tech color and i straddle two lines.......eventually we will all be forced to choose half of who we "are" because eventually we will all be Heinz 57's. People have forgotten politics as a means to better a country, and focased on bettering their "race"/"side"/"people"............. how are we to remain the "united" part that repersents the "united" states? That was a well written point....
tata..guilty as charged

I've never been sure who us and them are or where the line is supposed to be drawn.

I meant from the strictly selfish aspect of my sounding like Newt.
I'm not, honest, really truly!

I am a little uneasy that the Newt has used the racist label for the judge.
I have no inkling that she is a racist, but some of her vocal supporters are.
