I agree that for us the early 21st century is a confusing and uncertain time.  But so were the 60s and the Vietnam era for me, yet I have many fond memories to go along with the harsh realities of those days.  I also have a very good friend who just turned 90 and some of his fondest "good old days" memories come from the Great Depression and World War II.  I found this hard to understand until I remembered another friend who was a prisoner of war in World War II, yet has fond memories of the way this country pulled together in those days.  My point was that no matter how bad things seem to us right night, a future generation will have their fond "good old days" memories of exactly this time.  Not everyone, of course.  Some just won't care.  But virtually every period in history has had those that celebrated it.

notapoet, I am sorry, but I don't believe in any way that the first years
of the 21st Century can be described as the "Good Old Days," for they are not, they are some of the most uncertain and confusing days in human history.

Not all of us are closed to differing viewpoints and beliefs, although I admit it gets harder to keep an open mind as I grow older.  There is a certain amount of comfort in resisting change of any sort.

i have often found it hard to debate with christians.. not all of them...

but they never ever want to even admit to the possibility that they  might be wrong
