- Go to Sit! Stay! Good boy!
Re: ciel
Their balnce isn't too good when they sit that way, but I kind of like that. They can lean against me or the arm of the chair that I sit in. That turns out to be a pleasant bonding affair.

All dogs seem to sit differently. The ones that I have had flop on their butt, their back legs stick out in both directions, and they frequently put their front paws between their back legs. They look so comfortable that I wouldn't dream of trying to train them to sit any other way.

I finally caught up with you in your southern Middle-earth! Great pictures! Some of the landscape reminds me a bit of Nova Scotia, of all places, the hills coming right down to the water, though the flora would be rather different, lol.
Too bad about the loss of the camera - I guess you never did get it back...

All did in fact go well...
My task turned out to be to set down little squares of cloth on the ground in the right place at the right moment, then go switch them out for new ones for each dog. Their task was to find the one their master or the judge had handled, scenting it up. Ours was to make sure the ones we placed had a minimum of scent of any sort. Called for soapless hand-washing before hand and minimal handling of the cloth.
Most of the dogs had no trouble, but a couple really werent' much good at it.
There was a preponderance of border collies, but quite a number of other breeds and mixes. I made a particular friend of a brown and white border collie x husky who was a total loss at the 'stay' tasks, but very friendly and fond of being scratched behind the ears. His name is Jeopardy, and his mistress said I was welcome to take him back to America any time.
