"I think the in your face approach does more harm than good.........."
If you think about it - almost every other religion relies on fear to recruit and keep members. We should be presenting our message in love and people will come to God because love, in the end, is stronger then fear. So if we are promoting Hell, is that love or fear. As I said this may be true but there should be a better way for people present choices and Jesus' way seems the best.
