Teaching proper rules and etiquette before getting on the trails is the best way to handle it, as we all share the pleasures of the outdoors. I hope your hand is okay now, the Dad definitely should have been more observant and polite.

Wait until they're all over the streets claiming right of way!

Former
One of my pet peeves – innocently walking along a trail and a bike zooms by you or veers around you missing you only by an inch.  Cyclists think they own both the roads and the trails.

My heart almost stopped, I swear.
A couple times recently the college kids on bikes on the sidewalks have seemed to nearly stop my heart with their near misses. One guy looked at me as though it was my fault I happened to be walking on the SIDEWALK! The other, a young woman, apologized profusely.

They are not supposed to be on the sidewalk. I have no idea how you'd deal with bikes out in the woods. At least you can hear the motorcycles coming!

Kids need to learn the rules of the road early on! Pedestrians always have the right of way! Bikers must follow the same rules of vehicles! I get very upset when folks do not follow the rules because it gives us cyclists a bad name! sam
