Re: IN REPSONSE TO YOUR COMMENT...

To answer your outrageous comment kooka lives, I am well aware of the other pagan rituals in the other holidays, as I also stated in a previous comment. I don't celebrate Halloween, nor do I put a Christmas tree in house. However, I do celebrate the birth and resurrection of My Lord and Saviour, but I refuse to celebrate in any other way but to worship Him. AND YES, THE BIBLE SAYS TO BE FRUITFUL AND MULTIPLY, BUT REMEMBER IT ALSO SAYS THAT ALL FORNICATORS ARE GOING TO HELL! So be sure to not pick out the verses you like and leave out the ones you don't. And sure it's good to have children, so long as it's in the right manner, AKA MARRIED. FORNICATION however, is the reason for STD's, and it stems from lust. It seems to me like you are for all of these sins and perhaps even participate in them. I would hate to be you on judgment day.

Also, it is clear by the implication of your curse words and vulgar speech in your comment, that you are in no way representing Christ, or have any place to say anything at all. You see, people love to carry the Bible around, and memorize a couple of scriptures (that they like) and carry the Christian name. But the Bible says that there are those who say they are Christians, but deny the power there of. So you can post all of the Holiday research comments you wish, but Ill not waste my time reading them. I'm sorry that you are so far off from the truth, but I believe what I believe according to the Bible. People always defend sin they are the one's committing them. Sorry I stepped on your toes. And I hope that your not one of those people the Bible speaks of who are EVER-LEARNING BUT NEVER COMING TO THE KNOWLEDGE OF THE TRUTH. So, thanks, but no-thanks, for the info. I'll continue to serve my God, and you certainly have the right to serve your god, whatever that may be.

I hope you are not one of those kind of believers
While there is no doubt at all that the idea behind Easter have Pagan roots, just as do other such Christians holidays like Halloween and Christmas and those ideas are no more Biblically based than Marriage or going to church. The basic ideas presented in your post are clearly propaganda and misinformation.

Like the fall celebrations such as Halloween and the winter celebrations such as Christmas, most civilizations held some form of celebration in the spring to celebrate the end of winter and the breathing of new life into the world.

The Pagan orgy you spoke of is most not a real event and I can find nothing on it any where.  It sounds far too much like basic anti-pagan propaganda. "Pagans rarely use sex in their rituals although rituals often imply sex and fertility."

Here is the BBC's info on paganism:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/religion/religions/paganism/

the rabbit and egg are true fertility symbols, but you will find them in numerous cultures as being such.  And since spring is considered the time of rebirth and such, it just makes sense for those tow symbols to end up being used as spring festivals.  And since God's first rule ever was 'Be fruitful and Multiply', wishing to promote fertility does not seem as a bad thing to me.

Never trust religious based sources for accurate information.  When I first started here at Blogit I kept dealing with people who used BS propaganda about Halloween, which was as easy as it got to disprove, but they disliked Halloween, so they wanted to believe some of the most outrageous junk they could find.

I'll repost my blog about holidays in general for you, since the origins of the holidays and the traditions are not as important as what the holiday means to you and what traditions you and those who are part of your life enjoy.

RE: THE BIBLE SAYS TO "STUDY TO SHOW YOURSELF APPROVED...
To answer your question "Research". You should also check out what the pagans did on Christmas, and what the "tree" stands for. It's pagan as well, and you can find that in the Bible itself. They used fasten ornaments to it and then worship it. All things I'd rather not participate in. Any thing put above God is a sin, and only He should be worshiped.

Valid point....
but few will hear and less will believe. That is secularism at its best or should I say worst. Easter is a wonderful, triumphant reminder that death could not lat claim to Jesus and the grave could not hold Him. Praise God forever!!

I can't do the traditions that associate themselves with the events surrounding our Lord! It is just wrong for me! My kids did not grow up with them and I believe their's will not as well!  sam
