a stoic, quiet during labor pains and staring at someone who is hitting
you on the playground, until they freak that you are not responding *properly*, afraid of what you will do when you finally do something. Tough is another thing altogether. Smart dad.

your Father couldn't have given you better advice. I call it guts.
Your father was what I believe is a real man and I have always thought that is the way you are too.

Your father was such a wise man; and he probably had a soft side too. Mal

I wish that MY dad had given me the advice that you got from Yours!.
Muley,
If only I had known that, I wouldn't be stuck with arms the size of most men's legs! I wouldn't have large numbers of women fighting over me, and jealous husbands plotting my death! I wouldn't have developed such a rich fantasy life, either.
However, knowing what you learned at a young age, wouldn't have prepared me for life as a starving blogger, because there wouldn't be anything to write about, on my blog site, either. I guess that everyone's life has such small compensations, for what we lack and what we wind up having, I must keep telling myself that, or cry myself to sleep, each night. I am SO lonely! SOB!

Our dads
Are sometimes the most wise of all creatures we will encounter in our lives. Your dad sounds like a very good and smart man. I enjoyed reading this.

I think your father was very wise to pass this on! What a great way to look at things! I love how you were able to put in to play with wrestling, for the end of the match would be the very hardest! Wonderful! sam

I agree. I've known many 'little' people who were unbelievably 'tough'. My mom was one, and she didn't even measure 5', and weighed 110 lbs soaking wet. She worked as a barmaid most of her life, and nobody, but nobody, sassed her and got away with it. Perseverance, yes, but also attitude. Another good post, Muley.
