Excellent point! I have come to learn that the more simplified in language a poem is, the better it is. I use the words in speech that I use in my poems! When my kids were in school their friends had trouble understanding them because of their vocabulary! lol I got wind of from parents! Bottom line, a poem should use the most simplest of words to keep the reader involved! Common speech is best! sam

Very interesting post! I think communicating the ideas is what matters. Sometimes the words can be simple, and other times the only words available are complex. In real life, communicating is troublesome. I have to break it down for others, even throwing in some spanish....because that's who I deal with!

Good post! As you say; it depends who you're talking to. When I talk to my two year old grandson I use a basic vocabulary, though I avoid baby-talk.
