I think he was not aware of the plight of Indians. Even today 52% of Indian kids in a certain age group is malnourished.

'Change is always subjective' i.e. we have the power to change ourselves as individuals. Agreed, we can only change ourselves and that can be very hard to do.

'To talk of evil and misery is nonsense, because they do not exist outside.'

The ramifications of evil exist in practice: eg. cruelty, injustice, war and inequality.

'If I am immune from all anger, I never feel angry. If am immune from all hatred, I never feel hatred.'

Yes, if we could do this I think the world would be a much happier place.

I wish by self cleansing we can immune ourselves from the hatred and misery, but I think it is impossible no matter how much we try. For example I hate the devil. How can I change that feeling?  Thanks for the read.

things on the inside are real
I wouldn't say it's "nonsense" to talk about evil and misery simply because they do not exist "on the outside".  Just where is the outside, anyway?  Just about anything you can think of is ultimately traceable to an inner experience.  We can still make sense talking about it.

It sounds like a fine idea to be immune from suffering.  How do we do it?  ;)
