The same thing happened here about 2 years ago when a family were sunning in a small cove. They were washed away and drowned, and now there are warnings before the gates are opened. I was very surprised when the ice fisherman told me his story, but he left before I could ask any more questions.

We had a similar problem until they killed a Boy Scout.
They would open and shut gates on the big dam upstream and one day they oend them while a Boy Scout troop was learning to kayak. The slow but strong current was replaced by higher faster stronger water in a matter of minutes and one boy was carried around a bend and into a snag. Now they have warning devices along the river giving everyone a number of miutes before they open the gates,

Pat
It may be his last chance for ice fishing already, Pat. The river is mostly clear now.

Neither would I, sam444. If he'd waited until today, he would have found most of the river clear of ice.

Fascinating indeed! I would not have been that quick to get back on the ice! sam
