yup it was "simon says" for us, too. must introduce it to my children :)

we called it Simon says, acvtually my grandchildren still play this.

Love this one.
'May I'?  is as much about permission as it is about bringing the other person to your side.  As an adult, I see the power of 'May I?', very diferent to the child's 'May I'? As an adult its more about sharing than control.  Lovely post....
