You are right! The majority is wrong! They won't believe it until they are dead!

Hypocrisy is hypocrisy no matter the cover! They both have major issues! Reminds me of the don't do as I do do as I say! I think your friend is better off without him! Thankfully she got out in a year, I cannot say that! Although I should have left after the first year! I agree with your conclusion though!  sam

womeninthegap - what you describe is the manifestation of the message

falling off of the rails at some point.

For some people; to believe, to have faith and to become saved or born again, have all somehow become more important than an individual's actions and what the underlying religious doctrine actually imparts. The saddest part of it all is that this focus on being a member of the "yay, we are saved club" is continuously upheld by the community around them.

This is a sad, truthful story....
that is a cancer in Christian circles. I am so sorry that both of you have had to go through this hypocritic situation. You already know that people like the men you described are wrong as can be. God does NOT give candy to some for wrong doing and crucify others. God no longer winks at ignorance so these guys will not get by with their actions. I know this is not any consolation to you, but God will deal with them at some point. Work out your own salvation before God and allow Him to heal the hurt inflicted by the one who should have been your protector and provider. Don't give up!
