Re: Crusades
were a cynical political move by Pope Urban, stealing a page from Muhammad's playbook by promising paradise and forgiveness to soldiers who died for his earthly rule, suitably masked as the Church. Fear of damnation was a powerful motivator. Safe passage for the pilgrims to the "Holy Land" and, ostensibly, defense of Christians in the region who were being slaughtered by the Muslims, both of these objectives in the name of the Church, and the fear of being slaughtered on account of it, was what the Crusades were started for, not in God's Holy Name of Love. If Urban had tried that tactic, he wouldn't have gotten even Peter the Hermit and his rabble.
More evil is done in the name of fear than ever in the name of Love.
Fine poem, though.

The crusades were started in God's name and many perished because of that. It has been around a long time. In the name of love.I like the conclusion wisdom in the haven of the heart. Well done!

all of the mean spirited things we do "in the name of love" - makes one
