John Nelson Darby...
...and his Premillenial Dispensationalism back in the mid-19th century is what started all that anti-christ/rapture nonsense, from a widely scattered few scriptures that he made into what can essentially be called a new religion.
There is so much I can say on this matter, but, that would be enough to make several posts.
