Re: Great Lakes
OK.....I am going to explain it one last time........I can find 2 articles or sources for each of your one......you don't want to accept anything that disagrees with your position.....some of us are just trying to demonstrate that this is more than one view....more than one perspective. I would never hope to convince you you are wrong....that's how one has to work with one so narrow in perception.
I offer articles that allows someone who might read you enviro-babble to drink from a different cup.......especially since your cup runneth over greatly...........

Global Warming Means More Snow For Great Lakes Region
(Nov. 6, 2003) — Global warming has had a surprising impact on the Great Lakes region of the U.S. – more snow. A comparative study of snowfall records in and outside of the Great Lakes region indicated a ... > read more
Shift In Great Lakes "Seasons" May Reflect Warming Trend (May 25, 2000) — Scrutinizing a 139-year record of Great Lakes water levels, a University of Wisconsin-Madison scientist has discovered a dramatic shift in the seasonal changes in water levels on the Great Lakes. ...

Re: Re: How do you figure this?
But you see, Corbin, the same agency that you quote to support your view that there is no warming, tells us very plainly that there is.
How do you explain the contradiction?

How do you figure this?
NOAA: Global Temperature for November Fourth Warmest on Record

here's today's -- at least one
I have shown where you are wrong in your assumptions.
You haven't presented a counter argument

and again concerning Western Europe's wintry problems
that could get worse because of the melting of Greenland's icecap.
This disrupts the flow of the current in the North Atlantic that brings warm water up to Western Europe, thus inordinately temperate conditions for that latitude.
Disrupt the warm water and the winters become "normal", that is -- quite severe.

a quote from your second citation about record growth in Arctic sea ice
"
Bill Chapman, a researcher with
the Arctic Climate Center at the University of Illinois, says the rapid
increase is "no big deal". He says that, while the Arctic has certainly
been colder in recent months, the long-term decrease is still ongoing.
Chapman, who predicts that sea ice will soon stop growing, sees nothing
in the recent data to contradict predictions of global warming."

a quote from your first citation about oceans cooling
"Although the average temperature of the upper oceans has
significantly cooled since 2003, the decline is a fraction of the total
ocean warming over the previous 48 years.
"This research
suggests global warming isn't always steady, but happens with
occasional 'speed bumps'," said Josh Willis, a co-author of the study
at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory, Pasadena, Calif. "This cooling is
probably natural climate variability. The oceans today are still warmer
than they were during the 1980s, and most scientists expect the oceans
will eventually continue to warm in response to human-induced climate
change.""
They are still warmer.

as far as ice cap growth is concerned
when the ice cover was at its lowest on record, then any growth could very possible be noted as record
but that's all right
I am damn glad the people in power aren't listening to your side of the story.
we'd be in even deeper shit if they did -- just keep up all the pollution that has been causing this -- just let it go =-- take the chance that this would pretty well have devastating effects.
I have to look I guess where you've been getting your data -- because the data I have received from some of the same sources contradicts your data
photos of Antarctic ice breaking up -- record lows -- photos of Arctic ice at its lowest on record -- Antarctic sea temperatures very warm.
Global Warming can cause certain cold and snow by disruptingf the flow of sea water -- warm water currents moving up by Western Europe and WEstern U.S. -- being disrupted by the melting of icecaps and glaciers, thus the warmth usually associated not being there; instead, cold.
Odd indeed where you got your data.
