And so you should, Mneme!

We all should!

A few of the parks are way over-visited, but there are so many that most people have never heard of!  And they need our entry fees to keep going.  Someone seems to have cut their budgets, indeed pared them to the bone, so that some may be closed before long simply because the people who operate them can't be paid.

Goodwhisky, I find I can either keep them in my head or in the camera, but
when I take a shot, it's as if my memory lets go of it, knowing the image is stored elsewhere.  I suppose at my age, with the brain-caches filled and in serious need of defragging, there is a certain economy in the storage of yet more information!

Re: Oops...
I did indeed use my zoom for the heron.  He was about 30 feet away, and progressed from the water to the shore, and wandered off into the woods.  He had an eye on me the whole time!  I suppose, in case of fish...

Amazing photographs, thank you. I live by a river and often want to capture a moment, the light or the life around me. But my eye does not see through the lens so good,  i store them in actual memory and am always awed when i see magical photographs like yours.

Oops...
...I forgot to mention...great shot on the Great Blue Heron! How'd you get so close?
Did you use "zoom," or attract it by dangling a fish?
The only time I got that close to one was when my kids and I were fishing a few years ago and one hung around us, hoping for some generosity, and we accommodated it by tossing an occasional perch its way.
Watching the lump in its throat slowly descend was worth it. My kids, then 14 and 12, got the biggest kick out of that!

These are fantastic...
...and in my neck-o-the-woods yet!
Thank you so much, Ciel. You are quiet the photographer!
Of course, I'm sure you've heard that before.
