Mine are all grown and having their own babies, oldest grandchild, 14.

Sigh. when they first move out, they often go back and forth for awhile, so, the nest might not be soooooo empty as you think just yet.

May your new year be a skinnier and more work filled one, as that is what you wished for.

Interesting way of putting it.

What a bittersweet time in your life.  I will soon be embarking upon the same, as my oldest is almost 17 and my youngest 7.  But it will be quite a while before the entire nest is empty.  Hoping I won't be too old to enjoy it some.

Re:
Yes, TAPS, Mormonism is a faith.  I was raised in a devout Mormon household, but eventually I had an epiphany and realized the truth that, well, truth was lacking in Mormonism.  So I call myself a Mormon Atheist, as Christopher Hitchens calls himself a Protestant Atheist.  By belief, I am also a Catholic Atheist, a Protestant Atheist, a Jewish Atheist, a Muslim Atheist, and a Buddhist Atheist.  I haven't studied enough Hinduism to claim to be a Hindu Atheist, just a non-believer.  But I know more about the errors of Mormonism than I do about any other religion.

Enjoy your empty nest!

Mine have just started to take flight with the youngest a good twelve years from being college graduation age.

Just a suggestion, but it might be a good year to take stock of your current housing situation.  Your wife and you have doubtless made the choice to be where you are largely because of the kids, so let your imaginations fly as to where you might want to enjoy these years of freedom.  This need not be exotic.  If you feel happy with your community or its environs, it might be as simple as moving to a smaller house in your current town or in a nearby city.

Again, enjoy your empty nest!

mousehop, This is not a snarky comment, I am really just wanting to know.  How can one be a Mormon Atheist.  Isn't Mormonism based on faith that includes belief in God?
